***While our mission is specific to certain populations, our educational program is open to all students of diverse backgrounds and educational achievement levels. In additional to our primary mission, we also aim to nurture the potential of gifted students by providing enriching educational experiences and opportunities for advanced learning.
The overall mission of S.M.A.R.T BUS is to support the educational, economic, and therapeutic needs of underserved communities through collaboration with aligned organizations. We aim to close the academic achievement gap and empower high-needs children, particularly African Americans, to achieve educational proficiency. In addition, we address trauma-related disorders and disabilities to ensure holistic recovery and long-term success.
Please give $10 $20 $30 $50 or more. Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goals and improve the educational experiences of our students.
“I think he has become more confident in himself. Not only as a writer but in general. He is taking more risks during discussions by presenting different arguments or point of views and opinions., regardless of his classmates' views and opinions. He also learned how to hand immediate overnight attention from large groups of students and staff at school. He demonstrated character traits of humility for his accomplishment. I just love him!”
Stephanie Sposata, teacher of Braylon Lucas Neuse River Middle School
“This has been an exhilarating experience that took us over by night! Braylon has handled his success in publishing his book in humility, but he wants to continue to write more books. I noticed an increased confidence in this shy kid. We all are continuing to seek ways to increase proficiency in writing.”
Keesha Richardson, parent of Braylon Lucas
“The school has been so supportive of Eva as a new author. Her book is featured in the library, and many of the staff have approached her about giving presentations. Many other students are inspired by this accomplishment, and they want to also write books. I see an improvement in her overall performance in school. This has been one of the best experiences for her.”
Jacqueline Iaconis, parent of Eva Iaconis
“This has been the best experience for James. We have worked together as a family to help promote and sell his book. James has learned some entrepreneurial skills and most importantly, he is showing improvement in literary and grammar skills.”
James Foulke II, parent of James Foulke III
“I have noticed an increase in confidence. He is so happy when he is presenting and selling his books at events. This will take him far in the future.”
Alecia Foulke, parent of James Foulke III
“Karynne keeps asking about her next book. It gives a grandparent joy to see their child excited about such an academic venture that helps build skills in so many ways. This opportunity has increased her overall self-esteem.”
Willie Fullwood, grandparent of Karynne Wilson
"I made a professional commercial video for an organization's social media page. The teacher, Chris, even mentored me one-on-one and allowed me to work with him on some of his projects."
Amari Fletcher, Videography Student at S.M.A.R.T BUS
