Mentored by our videographer, historian, and middle school teachers, students are creating a documentary on Jim Crow in NC, interviewing elderly Black community members, and capturing firsthand accounts of this history.
Mentored by published authors, Books by Us is a reading and writing program that develops children age 7-13 into becoming published authors. This program will showcase stories in cultural context, and address SEL. Books are sold from vendors such as Amazon, Target & Barnes and Noble.
Mentored by orchestra,and piano teachers and musicians, students learn piano and violin, helping them explore their musical talents and develop discipline and creativity through music education.
Mentored by therapist, STEM professionals, and student leaders, students participate in a STEAM-enriched program that includes therapeutic sessions from licensed therapists and counselors.
See Me is a curriculum for preteens and teens, combining film and literature to help youth overcome trauma and raise awareness about issues like sex trafficking. Students are mentored by entertainment professionals and law enforcement in this program.

SMART BUS is expanding opportunities for high school teens through our Workforce Development pathway, offering certification in agricultural land clearing and machinery operation. Students gain hands-on experience with real equipment, learn industry-standard safety practices, and build skills that prepare them for high-demand careers in agriculture, land management, and environmental services. This program empowers youth with credentials and practical training that lead directly to employment and long-term economic stability.
SMART BUS is actively seeking partnerships with land clearing and agricultural organizations to help train the next generation of skilled workers. Through these collaborations, high school students will earn industry-recognized certifications while gaining real hands-on experience in land clearing, machinery operation, and agricultural management. Partnering with us provides students with meaningful career pathways and supports local workforce needs, creating a strong pipeline of trained, job-ready youth entering the field.
