What is it: The Books By Us program will guide students through the journey of  storytelling and publishing using storytelling, creative writing, thinking, and reading skills. In this program, students use our book building process to share their own real-life  experiences or creative storytelling abilities to develop a fictional story or a combination of the two to be told in their own published book. 

How it works: Students will work with an adult facilitator to craft their story and create a manuscript that will turn into a published book. The  adult facilitators will help youth participants use storytelling lessons to effectively communicate  their ideas and tell their stories in a unique and personal way. Expert coaches/facilitators will work with  students to make sure each step of the program is properly executed.  The facilitator will work with 5 students virtually as a group once per week for 6 weeks.  Each student has a professional illustrator to use for the development of the book.  The book is expected to be completed at the end of the 6 weeks.
